MetLQ-900 powder coating metal filler putty for pre-coating surface correction
MetLQTM-900 · Pre-Coating Filler

Product Description

MetLQ-900 is a metal filler putty developed for surface correction on metal parts prior to powder coating or painting. It is used to fill dents, pinholes, surface porosity, weld marks, rivet impressions, machining lines and damaged surface areas so that a smooth and uniform surface is achieved before coating.

After curing, the putty forms a dense, well-bonded repair layer that adheres strongly to metal substrates. During electrostatic powder application, the repaired area behaves close to the base metal. After coating, the repaired area blends fully with the base surface and no visual difference is observed.

Key Benefits

  • Stable behaviour during coating and oven curing
  • Smooth sanding and controlled feather-edge blending
  • Dense and compact repair surface
  • Uniform surface appearance after coating
  • Reduced rework and improved finishing consistency

Heat Resistance up to 300°C

  • Adhesion strength maintained under thermal load
  • No blistering, bubbling or micro-cracking
  • Suitable for repeated powder-coating bake cycles

Application & Surface Preparation

  • Surface must be clean, dry and oil-free
  • Lightly roughen surface for maximum adhesion
  • Apply with firm pressure for complete cavity fill
  • Keep slightly above surface level for easier finishing

Frequently Asked Questions

MetLQ-900 is used to correct surface defects on metal parts before powder coating or painting. It effectively fills dents, pinholes, porosity, weld marks and machining lines to achieve a smooth, uniform finish ready for coating.
Yes. MetLQ-900 is rated up to 300°C and remains stable during typical powder coating bake cycles. The cured repair layer shows no blistering, bubbling or micro-cracking, even under repeated thermal exposure.
No. After coating, the repaired area blends completely with the base surface. The repair seamlessly integrates with the surrounding metal, resulting in a uniform appearance with no visual difference observed.
The surface must be clean, dry, oil-free and lightly roughened. Proper surface preparation ensures maximum adhesion strength and helps the repair blend seamlessly with the base metal during and after the coating process.
Yes. MetLQ-900 is suitable for repeated powder-coating bake cycles. The cured repair layer maintains adhesion strength and thermal stability even when exposed to multiple high-temperature curing cycles without deterioration.
